Call for Digital Liberal Arts (DLA) Faculty Fellows 23/24

The DLA Program at Macalester is delighted to announce our 2023/24 Call for DLA Faculty Fellows. The Faculty Fellows program is supported by the Library. The Fellowship term will last from September 25, 2023 to June 31, 2024. All faculty, including NTT, are encouraged to apply.

Sometimes getting an ambitious project off the ground, or taking it to the next phase, requires dedicated time and specific skills training. These faculty fellowships are designed to enhance your Digital Liberal Arts capacity in relationship to scholarship and/or teaching. Grants are intended to fund activities tied to a specific project rather than general professional development. Those working on research, curricular, or public-facing projects are eligible to apply.

The DLA Faculty Fellowship is intended as a cohort-based opportunity and Fellows will be expected to meet four times over the course of their fellowship. These meetings will be scheduled and facilitated by the DLA Librarian and Program Manager, Aisling Quigley.

To indicate interest in being considered for this competitive DLA Faculty Fellow grant opportunity, applicants must describe a scholarly and/or curricular project that will contain significant DLA components. To learn more about DLA, please visit the DLA website to explore projects, resources, and past courses.

This fellowship will provide each Faculty Fellow with a $2,000 stipend.

Applications are due by Friday, September 8, 2023

If you are ready to apply, please use the Digital Liberal Arts Faculty Fellows Application submission form

Applications will be reviewed by members of the DLA Team.

Grantee Obligations:

  • Schedule an initial consultation with a DLA Team member to learn what tools and methods might best serve your purposes and what technology support is available on campus to pursue your project.
  • Meet four times during the Fellowship term with your cohort and the DLA Director to share experiences with one another in a community of practice.
  • Submit a two-page summary of activities at the end of the term including information about tools, methods, and process notes from the past year.
  • Participate in the DLA Showcase in Fall 2024 demonstrating curricular/scholarly work.
