Recording an iPad with QuickTime

The above video walks you through the basics of recording the screen of an iPad from your laptop. This will be helpful if you want to create video lectures or other course content that uses the Apple Pencil — diagramming a sentence by hand, for example, or walking students through a chemistry equation.

This workflow uses QuickTime, a simple, user-friendly application built into iOS, so you won’t need to download additional software for this to work on a Mac. (Unfortunately, it also means this workflow isn’t supported on PCs.)

The iPad itself also includes a built-in screen recorder, but the above method may be preferable because it potentially removes an extra step for some users: transferring recordings from the iPad to your laptop.
