The background of the image is a dark gray color but is covered by a lighter gray, with only parts of the original dark gray coming through. the lighter gray is much more prevalent, especially on the left side of the canvas. on the right side of the canvas, there is a black cutout of an abstract silhouette of someone's side profile. Since the silhouette is abstract, the head figure resembles a gourd, with the nose and back of the neck being the most noticeable details. Where the mouth should be located is a red knot that hasn't tightly been secured. The knot looks as if it could be unraveled at any time, with ease.
