Title
Homage to the Square: Memento
Subject
square; geometry; color; color theory
Description
An off-black square sits just slightly askew from the center of the canvas, encompassed by a larger, deep brown square. The sides of the brown square, not the top and bottom edges, are met with thick gray lines. To the top and bottom edges of the combined brown square and gray lines rectangle are rich blue lines. This piece is unique within the collection for its not including strictly only squares; there are apparent rectangles in this piece as well. The effect this painting produces is that of being watched by a large eye.
