Description

This piece is the bust of an African-American woman. The face is simple with smooth features. The woman's eyes are painted white and black. The nose is triangular and the mouth is agape. The shape of the head is extended with a bump of the back to mimic the woman's hair up in a bun. There are twp concentric rings painted in white on the side of the head and a semicircular ring around them on the right. These shapes together resemble an ear. The wood used is cherry colored and only black and white paints are used. The wood has a heavy grain that adds texture to the sculpture.
