Two men; Christopher Isherwood (1904-1986) and Don Bachardy (1934-)

Isherwood is on the left side of the canvas. He has white hair with a slight smile and looking straight into the distance. He is sitting with both his feet placed on the ground, with his left arm resting on the chair's arm. Bachardy is sitting on a chair to the left of Isherwood, but on the right side of the canvas for the viewer. He has his head turned, looking directly at Isherwood.
