Title
The Balcony
Subject
people; balcony; dog; flowers
Description
This painting depicts three people on a balcony. The person closest to the spectator is seated, looking faraway. They are wearing a white gown and holding a fan. There's a small dog by their feet. On the left of the figure is a vase of flowers. Behind the seated person is another person dressed in a white dress. They are standing on the balcony and holding what appears to be an umbrella. The central figure, which is also the figure farthest from the spectator, is also standing. Their black clothing blends into the dark background, which in turn accentuates their face, hands, and the white shirt. All three figure suggest a sense of detachment from their surroundings.
