This semester, my students have done a lot of amazing work, and I can only highlight some of it here. I cannot capture the wonderful insights they’ve brought to class discussions on a website, but we do have some digital products to share (though are they “authentic objects,” class, if they lack aura??). We’ve created a website of object labels for materials from the Media Archaeology Lab and the Macalester Archives: https://macdch2024.macalester.digital/. We have also done some 3D scanning of some pretty interesting objects, including a religious scene, a baby shoe, a dumbbell (from when the Macalester gym was in the basement of Old Main), and a 19th-century stamp.
