Accessible responsive teaching
This slideshow presentation by Melissa Fletcher provides information and resources for faculty on how to create a responsive, accessible, and supportive learning environment for their students.
Our Associate Director of Assessment, Nancy Bostrom, with colleagues from Coe and Grinnell Colleges, facilitated a workshop focused on strategies to build a maximally responsive syllabus. Access this workshop as well as additional resources for creating a module-based syllabus here.
Use these resources from the assignment development workshop (facilitated by Britt Abel (German Studies, Director of Writing), Lisa Stroschine, Jane Nesmith, and Angela Ziskowski (Coe College); Robert Hinck and Shweta Srivastava (Monmouth College)) to learn how to develop effective assignments for your hybrid course. The resources focus primarily on creating transparent assignments that follow the Universal Design for Learning.
To help faculty imagine ways to address trauma in our teaching, our colleagues Karín Aguilar-San Juan (American Studies) and Devavani Chatterjea (Biology) led the first Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) summer 2020 faculty development session on Teaching and Learning with Care and Hope. Access this session as well as additional resources for addressing trauma in your course here.
